Article by Erica Dermer, Celiac and the Beast

Expo West 2015 was one for the books. It was the biggest and best Expo West so far! According to New Hope Media, the event grew 7.2 percent bringing together an inspired community of over 71,000 industry members, more than 2,700 exhibiting companies and 634 first-time exhibitors. And my feet and hips sure felt it!

Let’s talk about my favorite home & beauty finds from 2015 Expo West:

Bath & Body at Expo West

    100% PURE

It was great seeing 100% Pure on the show floor again. I’m addicted to their eye cream. I was excited to find out that most of their products are actually gluten free. According to their site, “Most of our products are gluten free. We are sensitive to this since we know many people suffer from gluten allergies. One common ingredient that contains gluten is Vitamin E. But the Vitamin E we use is gluten free because it’s derived from cold pressing rice bran.”

    PRIMAL PIT PASTE

    Primal Pit Paste

Primal Pit Paste totally saved my pits during Expo West. I won’t mention the other brand of natural unscented deodorant that I brought with me, but after Thursday night, I totally realized I was the smelly girl. Ugh. Luckily, I found a small travel tub of Primal Pit Paste in my press kit. Even though I have a TON of this at home, it was nice to save my pits (and my friends from smelling me) on the show floor. They have a few new scents we talked about after ShiftCon – like Jacked Up Jasmine that I totally recommend.

    MPWR

This natural/organic product company has an entire line of products for teens and their out-of-control hormones and acne. They have a cleanser, a cleansing spray, a moisturizer, and a spot treatment. I hope this line makes it big!

    EARTHPASTE

This Redmond Clay company includes simple ingredients like clay, xylitol, and essential oils to clean your teeth and freshen your breath instead of using a toothpaste with SLS that aggravates my mouth ulcers.

    ECOS – EARTH FRIENDLY PRODUCTS

They had a new line of Winnie the Pooh inspired baby lines that I picked up at ShiftCon, and I have loved working with them over the past few months. I am out of several of their products so I stopped by the booth to see if anything was new. I picked up Parsley Plus – which was new to me, but not new to the brand – and I’ve been using that on my kitchen since the show.

    HEALTHY HOOHOO

Healthy HooHoo makes a line of gentle feminine cleansers for your lady bits. More people need to talk about taking care of your body in ALL ways – and that includes feminine hygiene. Don’t put chemicals, fragrances or any unnecessary things on your sensitive lady bits. Support an amazing woman and a small business and buy Healthy HooHoo – available on Amazon.com and (hopefully) stores soon. Available in wipes, wash, and a foaming cleanser.

    SAAVY FREE & NATURAL

This is a brand new line of artisan products that are gluten-free, vegan, soy-free, non-GMO, food grade, and they smell fantastic. They also just launched a line of coconut wax candles (apparently coconut wax is very sustainable) – may I recommend Plumeria Violet because it smells amazing! Be on the look out for great things from this brand to come.

    HUGO’S NATURALS

    Hugo's Naturals

We love Hugo’s and we love that they are CSA celiac approved! I really like their body washes and soaps and I know that I can stay safe with this brand.

    AUBREY SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER

Aubrey Organics is making a pledge towards gluten-free labeling on their products (they have more than 60 GF products now). According to their site, “Since so many of our customers suffer from gluten sensitivities, we have begun testing our formulas to determine gluten content, and have been labeling all our gluten-free products accordingly.” This is such great news! I’m excited to try their newly designed line of shampoo and conditioner.

GIOVANNI – 2 CHIC BLACKBERRY & COCONUT MILK LINE

This smells absolutely delicious! I can’t wait to try these products – ranging from shampoo and conditioner to body wash. While they can’t explicitly guarantee that their product doesn’t contain gluten, their products I received did not contain gluten.
