How do you make the BEST Green Smoothie ever? Pack it full of ingredients you love! My BFF Whole Foods Market Chef Hillori Hansen wrote this incredible guide to creating the best green smoothies ever, and I just had to share it with you. Hil’s favorite combination is listed below too, I’d start there and try out some others. (I always use turmeric and basil, Hil prefers ginger and mint.)
We call these green smoothies because they are thicker than traditional juice, but lots of folks add extra liquid when blending to make a more juice-like consistency. It’s up to you. Of course, we used gorgeous produce from Whole Foods Market. Would you expect anything else?

Ingredients To Build Your Own Blend (pick your favorites to make the perfect green smoothie for you!)
Choose one or more from each category:
Fruit – Apple, Pineapple, Banana or Berries
Greens – Kale, Chard, Spinach or Collards
Flavor Enhancers – Herbs (mint, cilantro or parsley), Lemon, Lime, Ginger or Dates
Superfoods – Goji Berries, Chia Seeds, Flax Seeds, Hemp Seeds or Turmeric
Hydration – Coconut Water or Milk, Almond Milk, Juice or Tea Infused Water
Healthy Fats – Coconut, Avocado or Nuts

Hillori’s favorite green smoothie
- 1 apple cored
- Large handful of Kale
- 1 celery stick
- 2 sprigs mint leaves
- Juice of 1–2 lemons or limes
- 1 inch piece of ginger or turmeric
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 2-4 cups liquid to cover ingredients
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- Blend all ingredients until well incorporated and enjoy!
You can add more or less liquid to your smoothie, depending on the consistency that you like.
