We love books, but we really love cookbooks! We recently had the privilege of reviewing a few, here's what we have to say about them...
The Healthy Gluten-Free Life by Tammy Credicott
Especially for someone just starting out in a gluten-free lifestyle, this has everything. It's a terrific guide from breakfast through dessert, comfort meals to party food, some basic and some more elaborate; with tips, helps, and pantry suggestions. The recipes are inventive, the pictures are gorgeous - we wanted to try it all! (And we just might - we take that "foodie" designation seriously around here.)
Everyday Paleo Family Cookbook by Sarah Fragoso
We'll be using Everyday Paleo regularly, no doubt about it. The quick meals, simple tips, and pantry/fridge stocking ideas will really help those of us in the day-to-day G-free or Paleo category. We're drawn to this one because many of the dishes are familiar and the ingredients easily found, and the more creative recipes are enticing. Focused on family cooking, clear and concise directions, great pictures - yep, we like it!
Practical Paleo by Diane Sanfilippo
This one really sets you up to be successful at a Paleo lifestyle - with a lot of information on why and how it's beneficial and healthy. Some very basic directions and tips are offered, and helpful suggestions for altering her recipes to suit your dietary needs. Practical Paleo addresses a number of allergies, ailments, and illnesses with specific ideas, menu plans, and recipes.
Paleo Slow Cooking by Chrissy Gower
Many recipes appear to be company-quality, in addition to those everyday staples, with directions for the oven or stovetop as well. Good intro and explanations for new cooks or those new to a Paleo diet. Tweak the herbs and spices to suit your palate, and you've got some fine meals here - from fast and easy to those needing a little more prep time - and several hours in the slow cooker while you're away.
Paleo Indulgences by Tammy Credicott
Yes, desserts! ...candy! ...treats for when you just need 'em! ...and some wonderful dining out recreations. Not your daily go-to guide, but a kitchen keeper with the G-Free Foodie crew...and anyone else for whom "indulgence" is not a bad word. We freely admit to enjoying this tiny section on the food pyramid and we appreciate Tammy's efforts to give us some delicious gluten-free options.
