Preheat oven to 350 F
Arrange apple halves cut side up in a roasting pan. Mix raisins, brown sugar and pecans together, and spoon filling into the center of each apple half. Top center of each apple with a thin slice of the butter, then pour syrup into and around apples. Bake for 40 minutes until soft when pierced with a knife.
Pour the remaining syrupy glaze over each apple, add whipped cream if desired and serve warm.
