Are you wondering which brands offer gluten-free make up, skincare and body + haircare products, or if gluten in those products really matters? We've got the answers, plus a list of the best gluten-free cosmetic brands.
This G-Free Foodie Guide to Gluten-Free Make-Up & Body Care will be updated as we find new brands & formulations we love. Yeah, we’re a foodie site, but we know that what you put on your body is important too, since most make-up, lotion, & personal care products have a funny way of ending up in our mouths somehow (tricky little lipstick!) As with all G-Free products, formulations may change, so be sure to read labels & check with manufacturers regarding product safety. As with all G-Free Foodie Guides, we’ve listed stuff we actually LIKE.
Updated December 2021
Best Gluten-Free Make Up + Body Care Brands:
100% PURE: Everything from this line is (you guessed it!) 100% PURE, with no gluten or artificial ingredients. They offer fruit-pigment dyed makeup, hair & body care and skincare products, which all smell amazing and are loaded with good-for-you ingredients too.
bareMinerals: Every product in the bareMinerals line of mineral-based make-up and skin care line is gluten-free. Check out their Bare Minerals, Buxom & MD Formulations lines.
Bliss: At G-Free Foodie, we can’t get enough Bliss! All of their products, with the exception of the Lemon+Sage Shampoo & Conditioner, are completely gluten-free.
California Baby: All of California Baby‘s natural products are gluten & casein free. Great products for little ones & adults too, plus hard-to-find G-Free items like bug spray & massage oil.
Desert Essence: Offers natural, gluten-free formulas suitable for all our customers. Look for hair, body & skin care products from Desert Essence.
Ecco Bella: All of Ecco Bella‘s products are gluten-free and free of parabens, and all are casein free. We like the makeup, but LOVE the hair car products.
Gluten-Free Savonnerie: Gluten-Free Savonnerie creates Skin & Body care products that are free of gluten, casein, corn, nuts & soy.
Herbology: Herbology makes delicious-smelling skin & hair care products that are gluten-free.
LUSH Handmade Cosmetics: With a huge assortment of skin, hair & body care products made by hand from organic & natural ingredients, LUSH is pretty hard to beat. They list every ingredient of every product in an easy-to-read fashion, so you know what’s in there, and if you have other allergies, you can avoid those too. Love it – and we’re pretty obsessed with their bath bombs.
Morrocco Method: Morrocco Method offers gluten-free, vegan hair, skin & body care products for adults and children.
Neutrogena: Many of Neutrogena‘s products are gluten-gree, if you contact their Customer Service team, they will email you a current list of G-Free products.
Pangea Organics: All of Pangea Organics’ products are gluten-free, with the exception of Oatmeal Bergamot soap. This all-organic line is safe for children and most of their products are vegan, all are cruelty-free.
Red Apple Lipstick: EVERYTHING from Red Apple is 100% gluten-free and fabulous. In addition to their signature lipsticks (which we LOVE) you find mascara, balms, blush, eyeshadow & liner, and even vegan brushes. The founders of Red Apple are gluten-free themselves, so you know you'll be safe with this brand. They also allow you to choose colors for your own eyeshadow palette, which is awesome.
Smashbox: We love, love, love Smashbox cosmetics, from their awesome colors to the incredible coverage. According to Smashbox’s Customer Service team and online ingredient lists, all their products are gluten-gree except: Bionic Mascara in Jet Black, Layer Lash Primer, Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder in: Fair, Light, Medium and Dark, Doubletake Lip Color in: Praline, Gossamer, Sugar Spice, Cranberry, Lip Treatment, Lipstick Tinted Lip Treatment in: Solar, Ray, Beam, and Shine
Tarte: Many of Tarte’s products are labeled gluten-free, and ingredients for all of their make-up, skin & body care products list all ingredients clearly.

Has anyone tried or liked Alterna? I have dry, damaged hair, and the moisture repair shampoo and conditioner have been amazing.nothing else I have tried works as well. Any thoughts?

Kristina, I was planning to try Alterna my stylist suggested NEVO hair treatment mask my scalp broke out from Fragrance. Switched to Intelligent Nutrients and it dried out my hair even more.
I started using 100%Pure "Kelp & Mint Shampoo + Burdock & Neem Scalp Conditioner" and my hair is finally healthy again from constant color. Once a week I massage my scalp with Pure Organic Rose Hip Oil as hot oil treatment, wash it off after 30 min; continue w/shampoo & conditioner. I love 100% Pure line because all ingredients are Paraben, GMO, Gluten free. It's leaping bunny certification, certified Organic/Natural Product. Despite there is Tocopherrol (Vitamin E), its derived from Organic product. http://www.100%Pure.com
