Celiac Awareness Day at G-Free Foodie

May is Celiac Awareness Month, but September 13th is Celiac Awareness Day - courtesy of the Celiac Sprue Assn & in honor of  Dr. Samuel Gee's Birthday.  Gee was an English physician and pediatrician who established the modern medical study of celiac disease.

In 1887, he gave the first modern description of this disease in a lecture at Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, London. The following year, he published the first complete modern description of the clinical picture of celiac disease. He also theorized on the importance of diet in its control, perceptively stating: "if the patient can be cured at all, it must be by means of diet."

G-Free Foodie is honoring Celiac Awareness Day by offering a 35% Discount in our store (use code CeliacFoodie35), and by spreading the word about September 13th.  We started this company because I needed to be G-Free, and I wanted to eat & be well.  Now I am & I do - because of Dr. Gee & others like him.
