This refreshing red wine sangria is easy to make right in the glass!
How to mix up a delicious single serving sangria:
I use a medium-bodied red blend or a fruit-forward Zinfandel to make this cocktail, because it doesn't have the benefit of hanging out in a pitcher with a bunch of fruit like traditional sangrias do. Merlot would also work well here
You'll notice I'm not adding any additional liquor beyond the Grand Marnier. That's for two reasons: I like the taste of wine and I'm not trying to get gassed-out-of-my-mind on two of these. I've already told you my friends and I drink them in swimming pool. Safety first.
Could you use Triple Sec or another orange liqueur?
Sure, although I think Grand Marnier adds a little something more since it's cognac-based. You can also squeeze all the juice of the orange in the glass and not throw the slice in. When I have lots of fresh berries, that's usually what I do.
