This Hot Buttered Rum recipe is simply delicious, and easy to make. The butter base is made in a batch, but the cocktails can be made individually. It's also 100% gluten-free, since rum is gluten-free.

Ingredients
1stickunsalted buttersoftened (½ cup)
2cupslight brown sugar
1teaspoonground cinnamon
½teaspoongrated nutmeg
pinchground cloves
pinchsalt
1750 mlbottle of dark rum
boiling water
Instructions
In a bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Refrigerate until almost firm.
Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture into 12 small mugs.
Pour about 3 ounces of rum into each mug (filling about halfway).
Top with boiling water (to fill the remaining half), stir well, and serve immediately.
Notes
The butter cocktail base can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
