Ingredients
4large ripe bananaspeeled and cut in half
8wooden Popsicle Sticks
16ouncessemisweet chocolatechopped or chips
4tablespoonunsalted butter or coconut oil
chopped nuts, coconut flakes, sprinkles or other toppings
Instructions
Line a sheet pan with waxed paper. Have kids insert a popsicle stick into the cut-end of each banana, pushing the stick halfway in, leaving the other end exposed for use as a handle. Place the bananas on the sheet pan and freeze 1 hour.
Melt the chocolate and butter or coconut oil in a bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, stirring occasionally. (Or microwave on high power for 30 seconds at a time, stopping to stir after each 30 seconds until melted.)
Arrange the dipping decorations on several flat plates. Working with 1 banana at a time, dip it in the chocolate and turn to completely coat (spoon some on, if needed). Let kids roll the dipped banana in the desired decorations, transfer to the sheet pan, and return to the freezer for at least ½ hour.
Notes
Once frozen, store the bananas in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 1 month.
