Are  Tortilla Chips Gluten-Free?

Tortilla chips are made by frying corn tortillas in oil. Most (but not all!) corn tortillas are gluten-free.  Always check the label or ask the server if the chips are made in a dedicated fryer!


Are flavored tortilla chips gluten-free?

Check for hidden gluten in the seasoning and for cross-contamination.  Most Doritos are NOT gluten-free because they are not made in a dedicated gluten-free facility. 

Your gluten-free game plan: 1) Look for gluten-free labeling. 2) Check the list of the ingredients (if you're Celiac, stick with tortilla chips brands with GF certification or label claims). 2) At restaurants, ask about contamination from shared fryers.
