We shop at Trader Joe's at the Forum about once a week and we are always scanning the aisles to see what gluten-free products we can find.  On a recent trip we discovered their taco seasoning mix.  It has a 'g' on the front of the package and it is only .79 cents a pack, so we decided to give it a try.

I struggle with properly seasoning dishes, so we always have seasoning mixes on hand.  We don't like buying the taco kits because only a couple are gluten free, the seasoning mix is so high in salt, and they are not very cost effective. There are very few ingredients in the Trader Joe's seasoning mix and you only use half of the package when preparing tacos, so one package makes two dinners.  Trader Joe's also carries gluten-free taco shells at a very economical price.

To prepare simply add half of the seasoning mix (add more if you want it to be spicy) to the ground beef and brown, then reduce heat to medium and add a 14 oz. can of tomatoes or tomato sauce, not water like you add with most seasoning mixes. Simmer for five minutes and the mix thickens before your eyes.

The mix is very easy to prepare and the result is the most flavorful taco meat we have ever had.  It isn't too salty and the sauce really pairs well with the meat.  The tomatoes add another depth of flavor to the taco meat and the resulting sauce is full of flavor.

We highly recommend picking up this seasoning mix on your next trip to Trader Joe's.  We were informed by one of the cashiers that this mix is a number one seller for them and they run out constantly.  Check out their store locator to find the location closest to you!

Ingredients: sea salt, cumin, cayenne pepper, cane sugar, paprika, onion, garlic, black pepper, red bell pepper, oregano, chili pepper, and smoked paprika.

This is the best seasoning I have ever tried! It is spicy, but my children even love it and always look forward to taco night. They have a cup of milk close by!
