TasteFresno is a project of Paprika Studios, a communication consultancy based out of Fresno. They help other businesses better utilize the web. They split their time between client projects and ideas that they hope will benefit the community and give them a creative outlet. TasteFresno was created about five years ago and exists to engage the community in conversation about food.
James Collier, Chief Strategist of Paprika Studios got the idea for TasteFresno when he moved to Fresno over six years ago. His idea was to create a place to discuss local eats. Since then, it has grown and evolved into more than a website and online community, “The site has become a tool for bringing people together in person.” Collier said. TasteBuds, a group for TasteFresno members, gathers bi-monthly to explore food and food culture in Fresno.
TasteFresno is helping to bring the community together in a number of ways. Mayor Ashley Swearengin has partnered with TasteFresno to support locally owned restaurants. They have hopes for a community kitchen that could be home to cooking classes and commercial kitchen space. They plan to host more events like the annual Tri-tip Cook-off and monthly TasteBuds potluck. “We participate on community events because we see them as contributing to the conversation, and because we want to support others who are doing great things.” said Collier
They certainly are doing great things, and they are great people too. Check out the video TasteFresno did about our Eat Well Event. They are some very talented foodies, if I do say so myself!
Thank you TasteFresno for participating at The Eat Well Event and thank you for starting the conversation about local food.
